Guilty as Charged

by Randy Smith
As I walk through the halls of life
I am guilty of many things which are my plight
With some I am guilty of being a fool
But nobody told me there were any rules
With other is is lust that has caused my plight
But with me, this lust just feels so right
And to some I am a nut it is plain to see
For that is the only side of me they see
And then there are those who see the serious side
It comes when I want to be close and be friends that's why
But to those who know me, I will tell you now
I am guilty as charged and then somehow
Being guilty of trying to be a friend
to all that I meet, this cannot be a sin
For this I am I am willing to pay the price
because having friends is what I need in life.
